Artist statement

Mariana Martin was born in Rio de Janeiro, Brasil.  Her religious belief and Candonblé an ancient African

Tradition in Brazil influence her work.  Through her work she seeks to show her interior world as if it was in a dream,

the expression of her visions, her thoughts and her emotions.

Mariana is a self-taught artist and uses mixed media.  Ink, charcoal, Designer’s Gouache, acrylic, soft pastel and

English pencil pastel is at the present moment her favorite choice for media. She works on imported hand made

paper, watercolor acid free paper, and white bond paper.  Her studio is located in Wynwood Arts District, Miami, Florida.

"When I draw I place myself at the center of my being and I become one with all that there is around and within me,

it is an exercise of detachment from the physical plane and is the same as looking where our eyes are unable to see,

- A different layer of existence in a level where visions and dreams become reality".
